How can I test the air quality in my home?

Where you live is vital to your quality of life, but it is also equally important that your home is comfortable and a healthy environment. The quality of the indoor air you breathe is a significant contributing factor in your overall health, and you need to make sure you test its quality.

Home air quality test

There are several types of concerns when it comes to an indoor air quality test. Are you sneezing, coughing, having fevers, itchy watery eyes, burning nasal passages, eyes burning, headaches, etc.? Those above could be coming from mold, VOCs, dust, or something else. It can be challenging to pinpoint what is causing these symptoms. Unfortunately, there isn’t an air quality test solution that can test indoor air and give you all the answers; various air quality tests look for different things. You can run a mold air quality test if you suspect mold, a VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) test, a dust air quality test, asbestos, formaldehyde, lead, etc. the list is endless. If you want to find out which test is best for your home, it is advisable to seek the help of an IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) consultant or an industrial hygienist.

How to test air quality

You can purchase an indoor air quality monitoring device that will check the air quality for things ranging from VOCs, Co2, humidity, and dust. But if these devices don’t offer the solution you are seeking; then it’s time to hire a professional. The expert will have the proper training to perform a thorough inspection and testing. He will also be using professional-grade equipment. The consultant will also be able to offer advice and solutions to the problem.

Indoor air quality testing cost

Air quality test pricing can vary depending on the test but expect to pay about $550 on average, including a report but not with the remediation.
